- Axle with the groove and uses the right hand thread nut is the left hand (non drive side) axle. This axle tightens into the crank – anticlockwise.
- Axle without the groove and uses the left hand thread nut is the right hand (drive side) axle. This axle tightens into the crank – clockwise.
